I was recently named “Best in Show” by Campus Activities Magazine for my achievement of a perfect score on Artist Report Cards from shows on my 2012 Spring tour. After shows, campuses typically fill out an “artist report card” with feedback, ratings and comments about my show. I was the only performer in the book to earn a perfect 5/5 score! Thank you to all of the schools who submitted report cards on my show and for Campus Activities Magazine for recognizing my hard work.
This is a great opportunity for those of you who didn’t get a chance to see my performance in Shadowbox Live’s “Smoke & Mirrors.” Please note, I will not be participating in the full run of “Best of Shadowbox Live” due to prior contracted appearances. Check my tour schedule to see which nights I’ll be appearing.
If you want a chance to see my full show in Columbus, this will be your best shot! I’ll be headlining at Brew Ha Ha, hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Garret Morris on Monday, July 16 with my entire full-length performance. This is where you’ll get to see stuff that I normally only perform on the road at colleges, cruise ships, clubs and other venues that begin with other letters. Brew Ha Ha is a beer and comedy festival that takes place for 3 days in Columbus, Ohio’s Historic Brewery District.
10pm on a weeknight too late for you? Stop being a pansy. Laughing at live entertainment is healthier than sitting on the couch watching Pawn Stars (Sidenote: my show probably has more to do with history than anything on the history channel).
I’d love to see all of my Columbus friends out at this show. To everyone who’s asking “when are going to perform around here?” July 16. Register here. See you there!
Here are a series of shorts that appeared in Shadowbox Live‘s “Smoke and Mirrors.” Columbus NBC4 Chief Meteorologist Jym Ganahl is a long-time friend of Shadowbox and agreed to help out. Every time this aired live during “Smoke & Mirrors,” the crowd went WILD. Other videos from the show are below.

Sometimes, you get people in the audience that just want to be heard. In this instance, this guy had been yelling random things throughout the show (I was guesting in a Shadowbox Live Sketch Comedy show), so I knew right away when he yelled “I volunteer!” not to pull him onstage. Enjoy!
On Monday, April 16th I will team up with Shadowbox Live’s head writer Jimmy Mak for this one night only special event. A 30-minute performance will be followed by a viewing of the first three episodes of the hit TV show Arrested Development.
Drink specials for the night will include “The Lucille Martini” and “The Big Yellow Joint.”
Tickets are only $5.00. Call 614-416-7625 to make reservations.
We’ll find out if Gob Bluth helped or hindered my career.
Theater Review | Smoke And Mirrors: Ensemble puts lots of energy into new show
By Margaret Quamme
A new show, Smoke and Mirrors, doesn’t break much ground, but it’s a pleasing, high-energy example of what the troupe can do when working as an ensemble; the emphasis is on teamwork rather than individual efforts. It might be more profane and raucous than some of Shadowbox Live’s recent shows, but it’s also undeniably entertaining.
The theme is illusion, and the tone is set by magician Michael Kent, who opens both acts of the show with bits that nimbly shift from comedic to amazing.
